Industrial sulfuric acid is one of important basic chemical raw materials, and also one of the most important chemical products. It is primarily used for the manufacturing of inorganic fertilizers, and secondarily, as basic chemical materials, for nonferrous metals smelting, oil refining & petrochemicals, textile printing and dyeing, inorganic salts, some inorganic and organic acids, rubber, paints, military industry, pesticides & medicine, leather, coking, and other industries.
Industrial sulfuric acids are mainly produced from sulfurs, smelting gases, iron ores and sulfur concentrates, which respectively cover 40%, 22% and 36%f of China's industrial sulfuric acid production. Before 2007, this part of business of the Shaanxi Nonferrous Metal Holding Group Ltd. was mainly operated by Hanzhong Bayi Zinc Industry Co., Ltd. and Shaanxi Zinc Industry Co. Ltd. with annual output of 260,000 tons in 2007. As the project of acid-making from smelting gases jointly launched by Jinduicheng Molybdenum Group and Shaanxi Nonferrous Metals Mining Company is put into operation in 2008, and the expansion of acid-making from smelting gases of Hanzhong Bayi Zinc Industry Co., Ltd. and Shaanxi Zinc Industry Co. Ltd. is completed in 2008, the sulfuric acid production of Shaanxi Nonferrous Metal Holding Group Ltd. will increase by a wide margin.
